Special T Hunting is a family-owned and operated business committed to delivering a one-of-a-kind outdoor sporting experience with top-notch pheasant hunting.  Nestled in the scenic Blue Hills of North Central Kansas, we offer access to over 2,000 acres of native CSA grass and cropland. 

With a deep-rooted background in both farming and hunting, we plant a diverse mix of grain and hay crop which provides an ideal cover and feed for game birds.  Every acre is thoughtfully cultivated to create the perfect habitat so you can enjoy a successful, high-quality hunt.

Because we hunt on our own land, we’re proud to offer an extended season—from October 1st through March 31st—allowing for the harvest of both male and female pheasants.  At Special T, you're more than just a guest—you're part of the family.  From the moment you arrive, we aim to provide genuine hospitality, great company, and memories that’ll last a lifetime. 

 Our Story

Founded in 2001, Special T Hunting is owned and operated by Larry and Rose Ann Tonne, both retired educators with a passion for hunting.  Our family has deep roots in the hunting community, and we understand what it takes to ensure a high-quality hunt.

The Team

Troy Tonne: Larry and Rose Ann’s oldest son, actively involved in farming, hunting, and bird operations.  He guides hunts, manages the business, and raises and trains our dogs.​

Trevis Tonne: Our second oldest son, also involved in hunting, farming, and bird operations.  He guides hunts, helps with pheasants, and trains our dogs.​

Lori Tonne: Our daughter, who serves as our full-time cook, housekeeper, and caretaker of the birds, ensuring everything runs smoothly.​

Jason Tonne: Our third son, assist with the hunting operation and contributes to the family atmosphere.​

What We Offer

Start your morning with a hearty country breakfast, made from scratch.  Dig into fluffy pancakes, farm-fresh eggs, gooey cinnamon rolls, and our favorite—locally made Tipton sausage.  For lunch, come on back for a specially prepared hot meal served to warm you up after your morning hunt.  Our homemade lunch features a variety of hearty dishes that satisfy both sweet and savory cravings.  From stick-to-your-ribs comfort food to fresh-from-the-oven desserts, there’s always something worth coming back for.

We offer both guided and non-guided pheasant hunts.  Our seasoned guides and well-trained dogs are here to make your hunt safe, smooth, and successful.  At the end of the day, we will clean and bag your birds for the travel home. 

We also offer comfortable lodging just south of the main hunting facility.  Choose from three distinct lodges, each designed to suit groups of all sizes.  Every lodge comes with a fully equipped kitchen, internet TV, and cozy sleeping arrangements—all wrapped in a warm, hunting-themed atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.  Outdoor kennels are also available onsite.
