Special *T* Pheasant Hunting and Sporting Clay Course is a family operated business in every sense of the word.
The name Special T Hunting is based on the Tonne family name and the idea that each hunter is special to us and will be treated as such at our facility. We are a family run operation located in the scenic Blue Hills area of North Central Kansas. We opened our farm to hunting in 2001. Our family has enjoyed creating memories and friendships with fellow hunters over the last 15 years.
Special T is owned and operated by Larry and Rose Ann Tonne. We are retired teachers and have been married for 43 years. We have 4 grown children, 3 daughters-in-law, 1 son-in-law and 8 grandchildren. All of our children have grown up hunting and enjoy all outdoor activities. We are living the dream and doing what we love.
The whole family helps with the bird operation, lodging and meals.
Troy, our oldest, is actively involved in most aspects of the farming, hunting and bird operations. Troy also guides hunts, helps manage the business, and raises and trains our dogs (the hardest working members of our operation!). Troy has an Ag Business degree from Kansas State University and is married to Vanessa. They have 3 children, Zac, Logann, and Jaedyn, and live in Tipton, a small community close by. Troy and Vanessa also operate the restaurant in Tipton.
In addition, other members of the family can be seen some evenings and weekends, when their schedules allow, helping with the bird operation, lodging, preparing meals, and pitching in wherever and whenever they can to help.
Our daughter Lori and her family come out to help whenever they can, as does our son Jason, his wife Kayla, and their 2 sons. We so appreciate all of their hard work!

"Larry and family, thank you for allowing us to hunt on your farm. Thanks for making us feel like family. Keep up the good work and hopefully we will be back next year!"
Trevis, our number 2 son, is also very actively involved in the business, even though he is a full time Social Studies teacher at Tipton High School. Trevis also farms, guides hunts, helps with the pheasants and trains dogs. Trevis also helps Troy plant and maintain habitat for the wildlife in our fields. Trevis is married to Rayna and they live in Tipton.
